With a population exceeding 100,000 residents in Zomba city, we successfully engaged approximately 3.26% of this population through the vendor population community across several key markets: Chinamwali, Zomba Central Market, Flea Market, and the Komboni markets through our circular economy road show awareness campaign.
Supported by funding from the European Union in Malawi, WASTE Advisers implemented sets of waste separation bins in these markets as part of our goal of promoting a Green and circular economy. Following this, we held an awareness campaign in the city of zomba to sensitize the communities on how to separate their waste and why this is important.
Our aim was to educate residents on the importance of waste separation, highlighting its benefits and emphasizing the significance of caring for these bins. We’re delighted to have had the full support of Zomba City Council officials, who actively promoted waste separation, recognizing it as a collective responsibility to safeguard our environment.
As we conclude our awareness campaign tomorrow, we invite you to join us in spreading the word about waste separation, composting, and recycling within your community. #circulareconomy #wasteseparation
