Zomba City Council (ZCC) has procured five new motorcycles to enhance its operations and improve service delivery to residents in the city.
The motorcycles, which have been received by the council on Wednesday 11th December, are part of the council’s efforts to modernize its operations and improve its response times.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, His Worship, the Mayor for Zomba City, Councillor Christopher Jana said the procurement of the motorcycles signifies the council’s commitment to improve on service delivery.
“These motorcycles will help to reduce mobility problems among some officers thereby improving on performance and meet the needs of our residents,” Said the Mayor of Zomba City.
The motorcycles which are valued at 15 million kwacha have been procured using local revenue and they will be used by various departments within the council, including the Planning, Administration and Health.
Commenting on the development, the Director of Finance, James Mafunga said that the motorcycles will help various departments to easily conduct its operations.
The procurement of the motorcycles is one of the initiatives that ZCC is doing in scaling up its operations and deliver better services to residents. The new motorcycles are expected to be deployed to the various departments within the council immediately.
