Zomba City Council (ZCC) has shared insights with Mulanje District Council on e-ticketing system called Electronic Revenue Collection Information Management System (ERCIMS) during the latter’s learning visit on 14th November, 2024.
Speaking at the meeting, His Worship, the Mayor for Zomba City, Councilor Christopher Jana commended the entourage from Mulanje District Council for making efforts to come and learn more about the e-ticketing system.
The Mayor pinpointed that the e-ticketing system was adopted to control revenue collectors and to improve transparency and accountability in collection of revenue.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer for Zomba City Council Mr. Archangel Bakolo said that the meeting has allowed both councils to share ideas.
The CEO then requested officers from the two sides to continue collaborating in various sectors as one of the ways of ensuring growth of the councils.
Commenting on the visit, the District Commissioner for Mulanje District Council Mr. David Kaiwonanga Gondwe expressed gratitude to all the officers who made presentations for the well-crafted presentations which tallied with the purpose of their visit.
The system fosters smooth revenue collection as compared to the old laborious manual system because it is trustworthy, eliminates fraud, convenient to the public and encourages better performance tracking among others.
ZCC adopted ERCIMS in 2017 and currently uses it for issuance of e-tickets in bus depot, markets and parking areas.
