• ZCC Pledges Support for Monitoring & Evaluation Policy

    Zomba City Council (ZCC) has committed to supporting the National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy (2023-2027), noting that it will play a key role in implementation of its strategic plans.

    The Chief Executive officer for Zomba City Council, Archangel Bakolo made the remarks on Thursday, April 25, 2025 during the dissemination of the policy at the council’s Civic Offices.

    Bakolo: We support the policy

    Bakolo said the new policy will bring sanity in the council’s operations, eliminating inefficiencies it experiences in monitoring and evaluation.

    The policy seeks to strengthen monitoring and evaluation functions for evidence-based planning and implementation of development programmes and policies in order to improve public sector performance.

    The new National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy

    The implementation arrangements of the policy involve collaboration with stakeholders, including the academia, which may lead to the introduction of monitoring and evaluation degree programmes.

    The Department of Economic Planning and Development, within the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs is on the course of disseminating the policy to all councils emphasizing government’s commitment to improve public sector performance.
